Parasol Mushroom (Macrolepiota procera)
The Parasol Mushroom grows in the wild from summer to autumn in grassy areas of forests and along roadsides.
The cap of young mushrooms is egg-shaped, grayish-sandy in color, covered with brown scales. When mature, the cap can expand up to 30 cm in diameter. The gills range from white to yellowish and later become creamy. The stem can reach a height of 20 to 40 cm. It is also covered with brown scales like the cap and has a ring but no bulb at the base.
It is best to cultivate the substrate with inoculated mycelium in a shaded area near trees or shrubs because these mushrooms grow on forest edges and grass in the wild. In the chosen spot, dig a hole large enough to accommodate the entire substrate. Pour the substrate with the inoculated mycelium into the hole and cover it with a 3 cm layer of soil (this mushroom species particularly enjoys soil with a high calcium and silicate content). The planting area can be sprinkled with a small amount of calcium carbonate or lime.
Once the area is prepared, there is no need for additional maintenance. However, occasional watering is recommended, especially if there has been no rainfall for 7-8 days.
The mushrooms are packed in a special package with microfilters that protect them from contamination while ensuring good air circulation.
When purchasing the mycelium, cultivation instructions are provided.
At our shop you can also find bags for growing mushrooms and bran substrate
